According to the website of NHC, two D-allulose/D-psicose have been added to the List of New Raw Materials for Termination of Review, namely,
1. D-allulose/D-psicose
This product is produced using fructose as the raw material, which is converted by Microbacterium foliorum SYG27B-MF, followed by processes such as decolorization, desalination, separation, purification, crystallization, and drying. It is substantially equivalent to D-allulose, which was approved as a new food ingredient in Announcement No. 4 of 2025 by the National Health Commission. Therefore, it is recommended that the review be terminated. Except for the production strain, all other requirements shall comply with the announced regulations related to D-allulose.
2. D-allulose/D-psicose
This product is produced using fructose as the raw material, which is catalytically converted by the permitted D-allulose 3-epimerase (as announced in Announcement No. 5 of 2024 by the National Health Commission, sourced from Bacillus subtilis with donor Ruminococcus sp. 5_1_39B_FAA), followed by processes such as decolorization, separation, purification, crystallization, and drying. It is substantially equivalent to D-allulose, which was approved as a new food ingredient in Announcement No. 4 of 2025 by the National Health Commission. Therefore, it is recommended that the review be terminated. Except for the source of the D-allulose 3-epimerase, all other requirements shall comply with the announced regulations related to D-allulose.
